Privacy Policy
Effective September 18, 2026. This policy covers Cella’s public records, accounts, and workspaces at cella.art and cellaos.com. Cella is operated from Dallas. For privacy requests, contact legal@cella.art.
Account information
When you register, Cella processes your email address, password credentials, account identifiers, and the profile details you provide. These support sign-in, account recovery, permissions, and communication about your account. Do not send your password by email.
Saved works, visits, and contributions
Cella processes the works you save, visit checks you submit, and photographs, corrections, sources, and condition reports you contribute. Saves keep links in your account. A save does not establish ownership or a visit. Review decisions and accepted evidence can become part of a public artwork history.
Photos and camera
Lens uses a photo you take or upload to look for a match among recorded works. The browser asks for camera permission when camera access is needed. Using Lens alone does not publish a photograph as a contribution or prove a visit.
Photos submitted to a record or workspace are processed and stored for that feature. They can include faces, surroundings, location details, or camera metadata. Only submit material you have the right to share. Camera dates shown as evidence are not independently verified.
Location and nearby devices
When you choose nearby results or a visit check, Cella may process device location, the selected artwork or place, time, and evidence from a supported tag or beacon. Your browser or device controls location and Bluetooth permissions. You can browse by searching for a place without enabling location. Declining permission can make a nearby or visit-check feature unavailable.
Public and private information
Artwork pages, public artist or gallery profiles, published sources, and accepted contribution history can be read without an account and may be indexed by search engines. Credit or profile information attached to a public contribution may appear with it.
Signing in does not make every account or workspace field public. Saved works, account settings, private collection material, and restricted workspace information follow their access controls. Review the visibility of a profile, collection, or contribution before sharing it. Authorized workspace members and Cella reviewers may access information needed for their roles.
Cookies, local storage, and service logs
Cella uses cookies and browser storage for sessions, security, preferences, cached content, and supported offline drafts. A draft saved on your device has not necessarily been submitted to Cella. Shared devices may retain local data until you sign out or clear it.
Requests can generate technical records such as an IP address, browser information, request time, errors, and account or record identifiers. These support security, rate limits, reliability, and operation of the service. Permission and consent choices may also be recorded.
Why data is used and shared
Cella uses information to provide the features you request, maintain the public registry, review evidence, manage access, respond to support requests, and investigate abuse or errors.
Hosting, database, file-storage, map, email, and enabled diagnostic providers process information needed to deliver those services. If a paid checkout is enabled, the payment provider processes payment details and Cella receives the transaction information needed for billing. A proposed price is not a completed payment.
Public material is visible to anyone who opens its page. Information may also be disclosed when needed to comply with a valid legal request or protect the service and its users. External links and providers have their own privacy terms.
Retention and account closure
Account and service information is retained for the operation of the account, the public registry, security, dispute handling, and applicable legal obligations. Different records can have different retention needs; there is no single published deletion period for all data.
Artwork records may remain public after an account is closed if they are part of the public registry. Closing an account does not automatically remove an artwork, a source, or accepted history. A request to remove personal details, a photograph, or contributor credit is reviewed separately. Backup copies and records required for legal or security reasons may remain after account closure.
Your choices and deletion requests
Use device settings to change camera, location, or Bluetooth permissions. Use the account’s available privacy controls for account preferences.
To request access, correction, an export, account deletion, or removal of personal information, email legal@cella.art. Identify the account email and any affected public record URLs. Cella may need to verify that the request concerns your account or information. Do not include a password or unnecessary identity documents.
Privacy rights depend on where you live. If part of a request cannot be fulfilled, ask for the reason and the records affected. You may also contact your local data-protection authority where applicable.
