What can I do with Cella?
Find artwork and galleries on the map, learn about the artists, and save works you want to return to. Artists, galleries, and cultural organizations also have workspaces for managing their work.
Where should I start?
Open the map, search for a city or place, and select an artwork. Its page shows the available photo, artist, location, and history. Create an account when you want to contribute or use a workspace.
Do I need to own art to be a collector?
No. In Cella, Collector is for anyone who wants to find art, save favorite works, record visits, or help document what they see.
Which workspace should I choose?
Choose Artist to manage your artwork and profile, Gallery to organize inventory and exhibitions, Curator for projects and artwork selections, or City for public art and submitted records. Choose Collector if you want to browse and take part.
What is an artwork record?
It is the page for an artwork, bringing together its available photo, artist, location, dates, and history. Status labels tell you whether information has been reviewed or still needs attention.
Is saving an artwork the same as recording a visit?
No. Saving an artwork keeps a link to it. Recording a visit is a separate action that may require a location check or a supported tag or beacon. Saving alone does not confirm that you were there.
Do I have to enable my location or camera?
You can browse the map by searching for a place. Location is used for features such as nearby results and visit checks. Lens uses your camera or an uploaded photo to look for a matching artwork. Availability depends on your device.
Who can add artwork or correct a record?
Artists and galleries can add artwork through their workspaces. Signed-in participants can submit photos or corrections where a contribution action is available. A submitted change is reviewed before it becomes verified information.
What happens after I submit a photo or correction?
Check the confirmation for its status. Submitted for review means it is waiting for a decision. Saved on this device means it remains in this browser. These are different from an approved contribution.
How do I know whether information has changed?
Check the status, dates, and history shown on the artwork page. Where correction history is available, it shows recorded changes. A pending correction has not yet been accepted as verified information.
Can I use Cella outside Dallas?
Yes. The map covers places around the world. The amount of artwork and detail varies by location. Search for your city to see what has been recorded there.
How does Gallery DeFi relate to Cella?
Gallery DeFi is a gallery at 2200 Evanston Ave in Dallas. It is using Cella as a working test site for gallery tools. Cella is the wider service for artwork, artists, galleries, and cultural places. They are separate products.
Why is a tool marked beta or unavailable?
Beta means the tool is still being developed and may have limited functions. Unavailable means the requested information could not be loaded. Use Retry where it is offered; an unavailable section does not mean your records are empty.
